Two halves of one family. The German side comes from Ottenhöfen im Schwarzwald in the Black Forest. The Greek side comes from Καλός Αγρός in the Drama region: Cilician refugees from Σελεύκεια, Pontic refugees from the Kato Nevrokopi highlands, Thracians from Τσόγγαρα, and one Cappadocian line from Niğde.

About these histories
These reports come from my own research, carried out together with an AI assistant working from online archives, parish registers, the 1928 refugee register and published local histories.
One rule runs through them: a shared surname is not a relationship. Someone is only treated as a relative when a record names the link. Where two people share a name, a village or a trade but no document joins them, the reports say so and label it LIKELY or NOT VERIFIED rather than asserting it. Each claim is marked CONFIRMED, LIKELY or NOT FOUND, with its source.

Where this comes from
The histories on this page come from my own research, carried out together with an AI assistant working from online archives, parish registers, the 1928 refugee register and published local histories. They are a working record, not a finished book: each one states its sources and labels every claim CONFIRMED, LIKELY or NOT FOUND, and where a family story and a document disagree, both are shown rather than one being quietly dropped.
